Reykjavik
This is Hallgrimskirkja, a primary church in Reykjavik and the best landmark in the city due to its height.

This is Rainbow Street which runs from Laugavegur street uphill toward the church. It was painted for the pride celebration in 2015 and became so popular that the city now maintains it.

We did a helicopter tour from Reykjavik. It was the first time the pilot had a kangaroo as a passenger.

Helicopter Tour
We landed at the site of the volcano that had been erupting about every 3 weeks. Very cool to be so close to the peak of an active volcano, but between eruptions it was pretty quiet.

Helicopter Tour
The aerial tour took us over the rift valley where the North American and European tectonic plates are moving apart.

Helicopter Tour
Aerial view of the home of the president of Iceland - the white buildings in the center of the photo. No fences or security. If you want, you can walk up and knock on the door.

Volcano
This is the volcano near the Blue Lagoon that's been causing all of the disruption.

A waterfall viewed from the helicopter.

The Northern Lights
Fun fact: The northern lights are typically a white fuzz in the sky to the naked eye. The colors are too dim for our eyes. A camera captures the color with a long exposure of several seconds. It's only on rare occasions the lights are so intense you can see some colors.

The Northern Lights
These photos were taken on a group outing that took us outside the city lights of Reykjavik.
